Microstructure Evolution and Performance of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Electrodes
High temperature solid oxide fuel cells offer efficient direct conversion of chemical to electrical energy with low pollution emissions. Minimizing long-term degradation is important to commercialize SOFC system. The microstructure evolution of electrodes has been demonstrated as key factor of SOFC degradation. Coarsening of anode particles has been reported as a major cause to limit electrode durability. Thus, it’s crucial to investigate microstructure evolution of anode material. The purpose of present study is to evaluate change in microstructure of anode functional layer before and after thermal annealing by Transmission X-ray Microscopy and FIB-SEM, in order to predict and optimize its long-term stability.
